Burns Night Celebration

Burns night at Brynhill Golf Club was well supported with nearly 90 members and guests attending the festivities. Mrs. Libby Fine the Ladies’ Captain organised the event in fine Scottish tradition. The evening started with the guests being served a starter of Scotch broth. The Scottish Piper, Mr. Archie McCasser then piped in the haggis. This fine meal was carefully carried in with full ceremony by the caterer Mr. Mark Dommett. The Piper, Mark and the Toast Master, Mr. Alec Gray toasted the haggis in good old tradition with a large glass of whisky. Alec then recited the Ode to the Haggis. The meal of haggis, tatties and neeps was enjoyed by all and then followed with Scottish shortbread. Mrs. Fine hails from Aviemore in Scotland  and started learning Scottish Highland dancing from the age of two. The Ladies’ Captain performed the traditional Scottish sword dance to a huge round of applause. Many of the lady golfers had been rehearsing for weeks to entertain the guests with a few Scottish reels. There was group singing led by David Fine on guitar and Andy Banks on the Bodhran and harmonica. The songs of Scotland were enjoyed by everyone who attended.

The President Mr. Keith Atkinson congratulated Mrs. Fine the Ladies’ Captain for organising a such wonderful evening.Ladies' Captain - Mrs. Libby Fine
