On-Course Automated Emergency Defibrillator
We are thrilled to share an important initiative that aims to enhance the safety and well-being of each and every member and visitor of Brynhill Golf Club. As a community that cherishes both camaraderie and the pursuit of a well maintained golf course, it is crucial that we prioritise the health and safety of our members and visitors. To that end, we are launching a fundraising campaign to acquire an on-course Automated Emergency Defibrillator (AED).
Brynhill G.C would like to thank club member Mr Jeff Jones (member of the Senior section) for being instrumental in driving this idea forward and looking after the welfare of other fellow members and visitors with this potentially life saving device.
Did You Know?:
Over 400 golfers every year suffer a sudden cardiac arrest event on U.K golf courses.
Why An On-Course AED Matters:
An Automated Emergency Defibrillator (AED) is a life-saving device used to restore a normal heart rhythm during a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) event. SCA can happen to anyone, regardless of age or physical fitness level, and it often occurs without warning. By having an AED readily available on the golf course, we can significantly increase the chances of saving lives in the event of such emergencies.
Benefits For Each And Every Member:
Prompt and Effective Response: Time is of the essence in a cardiac emergency. Having an on-course AED ensures that immediate medical attention can be provided while waiting for professional help to arrive. It could be the difference between life and death, and having this resource close by offers peace of mind to both our members and their families.
Accessible and Convenient: Golf is a sport that requires physical exertion and can occasionally push our bodies to their limits. While we have a team of skilled staff and first aid kits on-site, having an AED directly on the course ensures even quicker access to life-saving treatment should the need arise. It offers an added layer of safety that all members can benefit from during their time on the green.
Member's Life-Saving Potential: Apart from providing immediate aid to others, the presence of an on-course AED also holds the potential to save your own life or the life of a fellow golfer you may be playing with. It's a sobering reality, but sudden cardiac arrests can occur without warning. By supporting this initiative, you are investing in your own well-being and that of your fellow members.
Location & Cost:
Due to the fact that this is an on-course AED there are certain factors that make it more expensive. One of these is the fact that the AED needs power to keep it charged. Our solution to this is to install a solar panel on the roof of Coreys Corner half way house which will run the AED that will be fixed to the wall. This has all been costed and we are looking at a cost of £2,000. We are already off to a good start as the Charity known as AED Donate will provide £400:00 towards our project. Out of courtesy I have also spoken to Lee Price regarding using Coreys Corner as the location and Lee has given his full support.
How You Can Help:
We are reaching out to each member of our golf club, inviting you to contribute £10 to this vital cause. Please feel free to donate more if you can and if we exceed our target we will look at adding an additional solar panel which could possibly run a fridge for cold drinks etc. With the collective effort and support of our generous community, we can make this project a reality.
Please consider making a £10 donation towards the purchase and ongoing maintenance of the on-course AED. Every contribution, regardless of size, makes a difference. Together, we can ensure the safety of our golfing family. The donation link is below and you can use Pay-Pal or if you haven’t got Pay-Pal you can use a credit / debit card.

Conclusion:
In the spirit of unity and compassion, we urge each member of our golf club to support our campaign to acquire an on-course Automated Emergency Defibrillator (AED). By investing in this life-saving resource, we demonstrate our commitment to the well-being of our members and the shared responsibility we have to one another. Together, let's make a positive difference and ensure that our golf club remains a safe haven for everyone.
