Director Of Golf (PGA Qualified)

Brynhill Golf Club is recruiting for the position of a self-employed (retained) academy director (PGA Qualified) - Under this new role, the person would operate as an independent self employed PGA affiliated professional who would be required to provide the services of a fully stocked professional shop and also provide a repair and club fitting service along with golf instruction to our members or visitors. 

The person would also facilitate the operational services of the new proposed indoor golf academy and simulators.

The Director of Golf plays a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of golf operations and ensuring the highest standards of service, professionalism, and member satisfaction at the golf club. This position requires a strong background in golf management, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding golf experiences.

Key Components For A Self Employed Director Of Golf

  1. Golf Operations Management

    • Supervise and manage all golf operations, including tee time bookings, tournaments, events, and practice facilities.

    • Ensure efficient and smooth flow of play on the golf course, implementing policies and procedures to optimise the golfing experience for members and guests.

    • Oversee the Pro Shop and retail operations, including inventory management, merchandising, and customer service.

  2. Staff Leadership and Development

    • Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate golf staff, including golf professionals, instructors, and Pro Shop personnel.

    • Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to enhance staff performance and service delivery.

  3. Member and Guest Relations

    • Foster positive relationships with members, guests, and stakeholders, ensuring exceptional service, responsiveness, and personalised attention to their needs.

    • Implement strategies to enhance member engagement, satisfaction, and retention through innovative programs, events, and services.

  4. Golf Course Maintenance and Improvement

    • Collaborate with the course manager to maintain the golf course to the highest standards of playability, aesthetics, and safety.

    • Advise on course improvement projects, renovations, and agronomic practices to enhance course conditions and sustainability.

  5. Financial Management

    • Develop and manage the golf department budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility, profitability, and adherence to financial targets and objectives.

    • Identify revenue-generating opportunities, analyse financial performance, and implement cost-effective strategies to maximise profitability.

  6. Tournament and Event Management

    • Plan, organise, and execute golf tournaments, outings, and special events, coordinating logistics, participant registration, scoring, and awards ceremonies.

    • Work closely with event sponsors, vendors, and partners to ensure successful event execution and sponsorship fulfillment.

  7. Compliance and Risk Management

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and industry standards governing golf operations, safety, and environmental stewardship.

    • Implement risk management protocols and safety procedures to mitigate liabilities and ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and patrons.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • PGA Qualified

  • Proven experience in golf management, including leadership roles in golf operations and administration.

  • Strong knowledge of golf industry trends, best practices, and customer service principles.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of golf professionals and support staff.

  • Proficiency in golf course management software, point-of-sale systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.

The Director of Golf reports to the General Manager and the Executive Management Committee and works collaboratively with other department heads to achieve the club's strategic objectives and uphold its reputation as a premier golf destination. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success and growth of the golf club while fostering a culture of excellence and camaraderie within the golfing community.

The retainer and package is yet to be determined. However, the compensation package will be competitive and commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
