Head Of Finance Position B.G.C
Brynhill Golf Club are pleased to invite applications for the role of The Head of Finance. This will start as a shadow role to the present Head Of Finance in preparation for their departure from this position.
The Head of Finance will work with the other members of the Executive Committee and the General Manager to work towards a business model that ensures the long term sustainable future of Brynhill Golf Club .This post is non-remunerated and will initially be for five years.
The appointed person need not be an accountant but would be expected to have proven experience in running a profitable SME, a knowledge of golf, ideally with a playing ability and be aware of the expectations and needs of a member’s golf club. They should be able to discharge the duties as listed below and be able to show proven experience and competency in these areas.
Duties and Responsibilities
The appointed person should be numerate ,articulate and a confident public speaker and a team player.
Have an in-depth knowledge of CASC and the appeal process and financial constraints of being a CASC.
Prepare documents for HMRC and the Valuation office and be able to appeal their decisions as required.
Communicate with the Club’s bankers and prepare documentation as required in a timely manner.
Communicate with Club’s retained accountants and payroll office.
Have a clear understanding of P/L and balance sheets.
Be able to produce cash flow forecasts and extrapolate financial information that can be understood in lay terms.
Communicate with the Club’s Professional and set up a monthly reporting mechanism for all income streams for internal and external golfing activities. Communicate with the Club’s Auditor and discuss/investigate areas of concern . Communicate with the Club’s Office Manager and where necessary produce reports or grant submissions and any other communications necessary for the efficient running of Brynhill.
Communicate with the Club’s GM to work together in creating business effective and sustainable business plans for future club projects.
Be aware of grant opportunities. Examine and scrutinise the monthly management reports and nominal activity and produce or deliver a repot to the Executive Committee
Examine the contracts and plant leases and advise on affordability.
Prepare and deliver the annual Financial report for the AGM.
Advise the other members of the Executive Committee and GM on the relevant financial information to hand and the potential impact on Brynhill’s finances of any decisions made .
Monitor Brynhill’s membership data and oversee membership invoicing and fee structure. Ensure all submissions on behalf of Brynhill Bar Trading Ltd are filed in accordance with current regulations and on time.
Attend internal and external meetings as required.
Understand VAT and the Partial Exemption rules.
Understand stocking taking , margin and gross and nett profit.
Be prepared to engage in processes along with the other members of the Executive Committee to make Brynhill sustainable both in the short and medium term.
