FOYER / RECEPTION AREA REFURB

I am thrilled to announce that the refurbishment of our foyer and reception area has been completed. This space is a vital part of the Brynhill experience, as it’s the first thing every member, visitor, and potential guest sees when they enter the club. First impressions are crucial, especially as we work to expand Brynhill’s reputation, not just as a golf club, but as a premier venue for a variety of events and gatherings.

You may also notice that we are beginning to brand the clubhouse simply as Brynhill, rather than Brynhill Golf Club. We feel confident that the venue is strong enough to stand on its own as “Brynhill,” broadening our appeal to a wider audience and allowing us to host an array of events and celebrations. This shift is part of our strategic vision to elevate the entire experience we offer, from golf to hospitality.

We all know that the golf course is the heart of our club, and I want to reassure you that enhancing the course will always be a top priority. However, to fund these improvements and ensure we continue to offer a high-quality golfing experience, we must also focus on maximising the potential of our clubhouse. A thriving, vibrant clubhouse allows us to reinvest into the course—whether it’s for new machinery, course upgrades, or enhanced member services.

Our strategy and business model is clear: by elevating the clubhouse to a premium venue for weddings, parties, events, and dining, we can create a sustainable revenue stream that can help support every aspect of Brynhill, including the golf course. This model isn’t just about increasing revenue; it’s about ensuring the long-term success, growth, and sustainability of the club. It is vital that we establish a consistent secondary income to golf.

With that in mind, we’ve designed the foyer as a welcoming, modern, and neutral space—a place that appeals not only to golfers but to anyone looking for a beautiful venue for their special event. Whether it’s a bride envisioning her perfect wedding, a family booking a welcoming venue for a wake, a family booking a celebration or party, or a couple enjoying Sunday lunch, we want every visitor to feel at home and impressed by what Brynhill has to offer.

As part of the refurbishment, we’ve made some thoughtful improvements to enhance the overall experience for everyone. The entrance to the lounge has been widened by a few inches to better accommodate wheelchair users ensuring that Brynhill remains accessible and welcoming to all. We have installed a nice lounge glass door etched with our branding so you can see through to the golf course. You’ll also notice new signage throughout, and we’ve removed the old cleaner’s cupboard near the toilets. In its place, you’ll find sleek acrylic signage and A3 frames that will display event information and club updates. The kitchen door is now a lovely clean plain door with no view into the kitchen and the hatch has been blocked up as we introduce a new ordering system for dining.
We’ve also installed a new 47” infotainment screen in the foyer, which will showcase all aspects of the club as changeable movie slides. This screen can be used to welcome visitors with personal messages for parties, weddings, or other events, helping to make their experience at Brynhill even more special.

You may notice that the traditional Captain’s pictures and honours boards have been removed from this space. Please understand, this decision was not made lightly. Our rich history is a source of pride, and we have every intention of preserving it. As part of our commitment to honoring our past, the captains’ pictures, along with the club president, will now be intermittently displayed on the new foyer infotainment screen. This ensures our club figureheads continue to be recognised in a modern, engaging way.
Looking ahead, these important elements will find a permanent home in the future renovation of the sports bar, which will remain 100% golf-focused and a celebration of Brynhill’s storied past. Additionally, in the future we plan to digitise some of our boards and historical images, making them accessible to anyone, anywhere, while ensuring our heritage is never lost.

Making the decision to remove these from the public foyer area is not about discarding our history, but about making strategic choices to adapt to the needs of today’s market. By positioning Brynhill as a top-tier venue, we ensure that we can continue to thrive and grow, securing the future of the club as we move forward.  Our recently revamped pro shop and simulator room are prime examples of how this forward-thinking approach is already paying off, and we are confident that the same will happen with our new reception area and the knock on effect.

We understand that change can sometimes be difficult, especially when it touches upon the traditions we hold dear. However, I hope you will see that these changes are designed to ensure that Brynhill continues to flourish, not only as a club but as a community. Our ultimate goal is to create a space that all of you—our valued members—are proud to share with your family, friends, and guests.

Thank you for being Brynhill members and thank you for your ongoing support, patience, and dedication to Brynhill. We are excited about what the future holds, and I hope that the new foyer, along with the many enhancements to come, makes you even prouder to be a part of this wonderful club.
As always, I am open and available for any discussions you may wish to have, and I remain fully transparent in all matters concerning the club.

Lastly, I want to express my thanks and appreciation to a few individuals who have played a role in bringing this refurbishment to life.
To Jamie Griffiths, who not only shares our vision but brought it to reality with his exceptional work. Jamie’s understanding of what we are striving to achieve, coupled with his knowledge as both a Brynhill golfer and member, has been invaluable.
A heartfelt thank you to Colin Lewis, whose generosity and dedication to the club cannot be overstated. Colin, the gift of your time—given freely and without any expectation—means a lot to us as a club. Your contributions behind the scenes are immeasurable, and this club is truly grateful for all that you do.
Thank you, Andy Chick, for once again lending your expertise, simply because you want to see Brynhill thrive. Along with Dai Griffiths your willingness to help, time after time, reflects the spirit that makes this club so special. Also thank you to club member Andrew Hilton for his very generous donation which was a massive help in sorting out and installing the tech.
To John Giles, past Chairman and club member, I offer a sincere thank you. Your incredible generosity in providing and fitting the high-quality Amtico flooring, along with covering the cost of the new lounge glass door, has elevated the look and feel of the clubhouse. Your unwavering support of the club’s efforts to move forward is deeply appreciated, and we are fortunate to have you in our corner.

Thank you to the Senior section, Ladies section, Halletts section and Wayfarers section for their contributions.

Kind Regards

Scott Warne
